Explore room settings with tactile exhibits full of historical insights and anecdotes, perfect for minds both old and young to enjoy.
Start your journey in our rail carriage like many Victorians did, look inside the doctor’s cupboards, light up the wine cellar and dress up as a hotel servant in what was an original bedroom sleeping six servants. An entertaining 23 minute film charts the story of the Atholl Palace celebrating those who built, worked and visited the hotel. It includes original footage made by the Leys School Film Society during their time at the hotel in the 1940s.
There's an interpretation board for those with an appreciation of Andrew Heiton Jr., a prolific Perthshire architect, who not only designed the Atholl Palace hotel but also shaped the character and style of Scottish Baronial architecture across Perthshire.
Don’t forget to pick up your complimentary copy of the ‘Hydropathic Herald’, packed with some more fun stories from the hotel’s past.
The Atholl Palace Museum is only museum in Scotland to celebrate the social history of a hotel and in 2005 when it first opened it was the first of its kind in the UK.
