The bungalows are a crescent of comfortable houses maintained to a high standard, each featuring two well-proportioned bedrooms with a sofa bed in the lounge.
A modern and fully equipped kitchen with built-in electric cooker and oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and washing machine/dryer leads to the dining room. Sliding doors separate the dining room from the sitting room, which looks out over the Bay of Firth. French doors open on to your own front patio, which is furnished with chairs and a patio table.
Each bungalow has a carport leading out to a drying area (with seating and washing line).
Bungalow 5 is wheelchair friendly. The bathroom has a wet room shower (no bath)
Orkney is famous for the quality of its environment and richness of its heritage. The small, peaceful village of Finstown - where the Boathouse is located - is mid-way between Kirkwall and Stromness, Orkney's two main towns. There is a shop, post office, pub, art gallery and Cruan riding school nearby.
Some of our customers' favourites are the ancient monuments within the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site, such as Skara Brae Maeshowe Ring of Brodgar and Standing Stones of Stenness. Here, you'll see the enigmatic Stone Age monuments, testament to a lost civilisation. You can also visit the Ness of Brodgar , where archaeological digs are ongoing.
The Cuween Cairn, on a hillside above Finstown, commands a wonderful view across the Bay of Firth towards the North Isles – it’s well worth the effort!

Getting here by Road:- Our modern accommodation is conveniently located in Finstown, just off the A965 which connects Orkney’s two main towns, Kirkwall and Stromness.
Public Transport:- Our central location provides good access to transport links to and within Orkney. Finstown is 7 miles from the Northlink Ferry Terminal in Stromness, 17 miles from Pentland Ferries arrival point in St Margaret’s Hope and 10 miles from Kirkwall Airport. We are also located on the main Stromness to Kirkwall bus route.
