Secret Bothy is a hidden gem in the heart of Highland Perthshire at the southern tip of the Cairngorms National Park. This stone built cottage is tucked away in historic Killiecrankie and sleeps up to 4 guests in in 2 double ensuite bedrooms.
The cottage is full of suprises. On the outside appears a 150 year old traditional dwelling; on the inside is a chic holiday home, offering 2 double ensuite bedrooms, spa bath, underfloor heating, wood-burning stove, wifi, modern kitchen, fully equipped utility room, open plan sitting/dining room, Sky TV and much more.
Secluded within a large, private garden it guarantees peace and privacy. Yet it is accessible all year round and is only a short walk to the celebrated Pass of Killiecrankie. The area is known for its outstanding natural beauty and Jacobite history. The Victorian town of Pitlochry is only 4 miles in one direction while Blair Atholl with its fairytale Blair Castle lies 4 miles in the other.
Secret Bothy guests often go on the whisky trail, the castle trail or the activity trail. There is plenty to do from golf, fishing, walking and climbing to cycling, birdwatching, highland safari and bungee-jumping. But where Secret Bothy excels is on the R&R trail. Furnished with many extra luxuries, including a bespoke welcome hamper, slippers, bathrobes and toiletries, self-catering has never been so indulgent.
Directions
Located in historic Killiecrankie on the site of a famous battle in 1689, Pitlochry and Blair Atholl are equidistant. The cottage is just within the southern boundary of Cairngorms National Park. Visitor receive full directions to Secret Bothy on booking.
Secret Bothy is easy to access by road. A car is essential for Secret Bothy's rural location. Car hire is available in nearby Pitlochry and cycles are available for rental both in Pitlochry and Blair Atholl.
There are railway stations with connections north and south at both Pitlochry (4 miles) and Blair Atholl (3 miles). The nearest airport is at Dundee (about 1 hour's drive). Driving time to Edinburgh airport depends on traffic. It is 70 miles away and you should allow 1 hour 40 minutes. Inverness in the north also takes about 1 hour 40 minutes to drive.
Booking Info
Secret Bothy is available for short breaks and week long stays. The minimum stay is 4 nights. There is a £50 cleaning charge for stays that are shorter than 1 week. Please enquire about availability or look at the calendar on the Secret Bothy website. Remember that you may be lucky with last minute availability.
