Bairnkine Farm Cottages
Home baking, cosy fires, central heating and a warm welcome. Farm walks. Come and enjoy some peace and quiet on our farm. If you take a walk on the farm you may see deer, buzzards and lots of sheep. We also have cattle. We are always happy to chat and tell you where to explore on the farm or in the local area too.
At dusk you'll hear owls too.
WiFi in both cottages now.
Hopefully all there for you to start your holiday including tea, coffee, milk, toilet rolls, kitchen roll, washing up liquid, dishcloth and kitchen foil. Of course Lucy's Home Baking too! Bairnkine Cottages are situated on a working farm nestling below The Cheviots just south of Jedburgh with spectacular views of the open countryside and surrounding farmland.
Matt runs the farm- you'll sometimes see him chasing sheep! Lucy tends to the cottages, as well as helping Matt, bakes cakes and generally lots of other things too.
This rural location offers you the tranquility of the countryside yet is only 3 miles from the Borders town of Jedburgh and only an hour's drive are Edinburgh, Newcastle and Carlisle. Both Owl Cottage and Wild Rose are furnished comfortably and offer central heating and a woodburner or open fire.
About Owl Cottage (Sleeps 6)
Owl Cottage is a spacious terraced house, which has two double and one twin bedroom - or it can be made up as two twin rooms and one double. In March 2020 we installed a new wood burning stove in the sitting room. The large utility/games room has tabletop football and snooker table and with it's tiled floor is well suited for those wet dog days! To the front is private parking for two cars. To the rear is an enclosed paved and
gravel garden.
About Wild Rose (Sleeps 5)
Wild Rose is a charming end terrace cottage ample private parking and side lawned garden with the field next door often having sheep or cows grazing in it. There are two bedrooms, one double and one which can be made up with three single beds or as a kingsize and a single - let us know!
Arriving late in the evening or just for convenience then a welcome pack can
be available. This will generally include a loaf of home made bread, butter,
eggs, tea, coffee, milk, jam and seasonal fruit at a cost of £15.
The cottages have a private water supply.
There is lots to see and do in the local area. Jedburgh is full of history and has Jedburgh Abbey, Mary Queen of Scots House and the Castle Jail
If you like whisky or gin why not visit The Borders Distillery at Hawick. The tour is very interesting and the stills are like works of art.
Our local swimming pool in Jedburgh Laidlaw Memorial Pool has a pool and a gym
We have some amazing cafes and restaurants in Jedburgh too including The Capon Tree, The Caddyman and The Carters Rest. As well as Border Meringues for great cakes.
There are so many lovely individual shops to browse around and also we have a great butchers too
