Sherramore Lodge is a traditional Victorian sporting lodge, nestled within the vast expanse of the Glenshero Estate near Laggan. Built around 1860, the lodge has retained its historic charm, offering a unique and immersive experience. Set on one of the area’s largest and most secluded estates, which spans an impressive 35,000 acres, the lodge’s sweeping drive leads to a dramatic approach, culminating in the stately front entrance. This sets the tone for a stay that feels a million miles away from civilisation, surrounded by the natural beauty and tranquillity of the Scottish Highlands. Sherramore Lodge accommodates up to 19 guests across 10 rooms, making it the perfect place to gather family and friends for a memorable stay. For smaller groups, the lodge can comfortably sleep 10 guests by utilising the first floor and six bedrooms, while a combination of the first and second floors can accommodate up to 19 guests.
The Lodge is located within a working estate that forms part of a larger area spanning an impressive 114,000 acres. It offers a wealth of sporting opportunities, including fishing, stalking, and shooting, providing guests with the chance to fully immerse themselves in traditional Highland pursuits.
Upon entering the impressive reception hall, guests are welcomed by the warmth of a wood-burning stove and the striking presence of a stag’s head (with a fascinating story behind it). From here, the hall leads into the spacious dining room, where stunning views of Loch Crunachdan provide a breathtaking backdrop. The large drawing room, also offering sweeping views, features an open fire and ample seating, creating the perfect space to relax, take in the scenery, or enjoy a quiet moment with a book. To the far side of the reception hall, a well-appointed kitchen with an Aga awaits, complemented by a substantial pantry and generous storage space.
Nearby is Wolftrax Mountain Bike Trails, a renowned destination for cyclists of all abilities, set against Laggan’s rugged backdrop. For a more leisurely pace, enjoy tranquil walks around the Spey Reservoir. Hiking enthusiasts will relish the unspoiled wilderness of the Monadhliath Mountains, home to red deer and golden eagles, while the cascading beauty of Pattack Falls offers a peaceful woodland escape.
Just a short drive away, Aviemore and the Cairngorms National Park open the door to countless adventures. Hike to the summit of Cairngorm Mountain for sweeping views, or enjoy winter sports when the snow falls. Nearby, the Highland Wildlife Park offers an up-close look at animals like Scottish wildcats and polar bears. Relax at the sandy shores of Loch Morlich, where you can try watersports or explore forest trails, and discover the Rothiemurchus Estate, an outdoor playground with activities like pony trekking, quad biking, and clay pigeon shooting.

The Highlands are a haven for anglers, and Laggan is no exception. The River Spey and its tributaries offer excellent salmon and trout fishing, while the tranquil Spey Reservoir provides a peaceful spot to cast your line amidst stunning scenery. For a guided experience, Loch Laggan is renowned for its brown trout and pike, with local experts offering fishing trips.
Golfers will be equally delighted by the courses nearby. Just 20 minutes away, Newtonmore Golf Club offers a scenic 18-hole course alongside the River Spey, while nearby Kingussie Golf Club provides a picturesque and rewarding round. For a championship-standard experience, Spey Valley Golf Club near Aviemore combines exceptional play with breathtaking views of the Cairngorm Mountains.

Note: The Lodge has no central heating, although plug in heaters are provided in each room, as are electric blankets in each of the bedrooms. The fires in the downstairs will be set ready for guests arrival and fire wood is supplied for the duration of your stay. It is the responsibility of guests to light and maintain these fires.
If you'd like to enjoy some venison during your stay, this can be pre-ordered before your arrival and delivered to the property. The venison is sourced from across the wider estate and is butchered in house by the estates stalking team. The estate runs a small shop in Fort William, should you wish to pick up some venison or estate lamb throughout your stay.
