The northernmost town of the British mainland, Thurso offers a variety of attraction to suit many tastes. The town centre boasts many cafes, bars, restaurants and shops, along with several interesting historical, cultural and anthropological sites - the circular wellhouse of Meadow Well, Swanson Gallery and Caithness Horizons being just a few examples. Thurso is also a major surfing area and hosts several surfing and kayaking championships, the coast's plentiful reefs, mouths and beaches making the location a haven for lovers of Watersports. The Castle of Mey and Dunrobin Castle are within easy reach, while wildlife lovers should not miss the chance to spot puffins, dolphins and maybe, with a little luck, whales passing the coast.
The Pentland Hotel can be found in the centre of Thurso, just off of the main A9 road - from the A9, turn left onto Princes Street and follow the road down until reaching the hotel on the right hand side. The hotel is also located less than half a kilometre away from the town's train station, which can be found further down Princes Street.
