Our lovely Hebridean Holiday Cottage is situated in the small fishing and crofting community of Loch Portain which is a short drive from the delightful village of Lochmaddy on the island of North Uist. This holiday cottage is decorated and equipped to a very high standard including a large new extension. Loch Portain House sleeps up to 8 guests - one kingsize bedroom with en suite shower, two twin bedrooms & a good quality bed settee in the lounge. It also has a large family bathroom. Relax sitting beside the open peat fire and enjoy the views over Loch Portain from the spacious sitting room & dining area which also features a fully fitted kitchen with island bar. There is a flat screen TV with Freeview, DVD player, iPod dock, microwave, washer/drier, fridge/freezer and dishwasher.
Local Area
Attractions include beautiful & magnificent beaches that are perfect for swimming or a quiet walk along the shore, wild salmon, sea-trout and brown trout fishing, the RSPB nature reserve at Balranald and many other outdoor activities.
Water sports, diving, abseiling, rock climbing and horse riding are all available and can be arranged nearby.
There is also a golf course at Benbecula where visitors are welcome.

Rates from £350 to £595 per week inclusive of all peat & electricity. Bed linen & towels are also provided.

Getting there by aeroplane:- From Benbecula airport turn left, sign posted for Lochmaddy. After 2 miles turn left, sign posted Lochmaddy. On entering the village immediately turn left, sign posted Solas. After 3 miles on that road turn right, sign posted Loch Portain. Further directions will be sent on booking. It is 45 minutes drive from airport.
Getting there by ferry:- From the ferry terminal drive out of Lochmaddy and turn right, sign posted Solas. After 3 miles turn right, sign posted Loch Portain. Further directions will be sent on booking. It is 20 minutes drive from ferry terminal.
