The Pink House
A friendly comfortable holiday home, centrally situated in the region's Food Town of Castle Douglas, and an ideal self-catering base to explore Dumfries & Galloway that's suitable for families and adults alike.
The Pink House is just right for a couple, family or group of friends. It has three bedrooms, can accommodate up to seven people and is on a quiet side street. You have the convenience of being in the town, yet within minutes you can be out exploring all that Galloway has to offer.
The house is tastefully decorated with a mix of period and modern furniture. There's Harris tweed seating in the lounge, local art throughout, and solar panels on the roof. It's all-electric, and easy to keep cosy and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with pans, dishes etc for when you eat in, and the 'boot room' has a dehumidifier and heater should you get caught in a shower when out.
Castle Douglas has a truly impressive line-up of privately owned shops and businesses. Being in the town you are ideally placed to explore these. You'll find excellent quality provisions in the artisan bakery, the delis, the butchers and more. There's a microbrewery, a choice of cafes, and a number of places for an evening meal, like the King's Arms or the Greek Restaurant. The town's loch is close too, as is the Market Hill, at both of which there are play parks for the children. This house really is a super spot to base your Galloway adventure!
You'll find that the house is ideally situated for walking, cycling and touring, with it being easy to attend to the essentials from your central location in the town. You'll be within easy reach of Galloway's beaches and rolling farmland and there are numerous places of interest to visit. You can walk from the house through the countryside to ancient Threave Castle and spot the osprey or peregrine falcons in season. Or have a wander round the lovely Threave Gardens, or perhaps an early morning stroll round the town's loch - you might see an otter - or an afternoon cycle round the byways?
Each of Galloway's towns has its own special features, there are many pretty little villages, and miles of quiet roads. The scenery is constantly changing. There are splendid off road walks and cycle routes such as in the Mabie, Ae, Kirroughtrie and Dalbeattie forests or in the Galloway hills. There's plenty of choice nearby for anglers, golfers and wildlife enthusiasts, and the Dark Sky park is just minutes away by car.
Of an evening see what's on at the Fullarton Theatre, a short walk down to the lochside, at Catstrand in New Galloway, Birchvale in Dalbeattie or venture further, to Dumfries, Newton Stewart....
You will be spoiled for choice, whatever the weather, and have the comfort of the pink house to return to at the end of your day! What sets our house apart is that it's quiet yet right in the town. Come and see for yourself!
