Mountain Biking in Scotland

Glentress now has a new network of trails. Choose from green, blue, red and black network trails which link into the existing network and offer new descents. There are also green, blue, red and black taster trails – short stand-alone loops, and a shared climb leading onto descents. A public vote named the trails: Apple Peel, Turn and Burn, Smells Like Tweed Spirit and Castle Black.

A new multi-user path is also now open, providing almost 4 km of accessible trails for walkers, cyclists and those with limited mobility to enjoy. A remaining section will be completed in December.

Great news for mountain bikers! You have a right of responsible access to thousands of miles of trails thanks to the Scottish Outdoor Access Code, so just follow the code when you're out and about.

Scotland is home to around 25 mountain biking centres to suit all abilities. Green and blue-graded tracks are perfect for beginners, whilst more confident riders will love the red, black and orange-graded trails. Just remember to stop occasionally to admire the amazing views.

A growing number of urban trails and bike parks - great places to hone your technique and practice your skills - are springing up in our towns and cities too.
