Have you mastered the basics in pressure canning, and are ready to take your skills to the next level?
During this workshop on creative canning, we’ll take a deep dive into a 'thrifty living' approach to pressure canning. Along with covering some of the more advanced practices of canning, you'll see the process of canning meat using both wet and dry methods, and go home with at least one jar of canned food for the cupboard!
Topics covered during this 2.5-hour workshop will include:
Selecting the best foods to can while considering how canning cooks foods,
The role of microbiology in pressure canning,
Safe canning of meat and dairy products,
Convenient 'Meal in a Jar' ideas and practical application of these,
Appropriate storage and use by suggestions,
Canning for household convenience including cleaning, sterilising and first aid.
This workshop is suitable for those who have completed the [Introduction to Pressure Canning](https://www.citizenticket.com/events/sustainable-kirriemuir/pressure-canning-workshop/) workshop with us, or already have some experience with pressure cooking/canning.
Tea and coffee will be provided, but feel free to bring along your own drink and snack if you like.
