Stay in a beautiful self-catering cottage on a peaceful working farm close to Lockerbie, Gretna & Annan. Relaxing holidays & stunning scenery - take a walk down the river & across the fields to see the farm animals or spot amazing wildlife.
Hare is one of our larger cottages in the Stables Courtyard, and is full of character. Sleeping up to 5 guests in 3 bedrooms, this cottage is ideal for families, or as part of a group.
Hare Cottage can suit guests who may struggle with stairs as the living room/kitchen, shower room and double bedroom are downstairs. Upstairs there is a single bedroom and a comfortable twin bedroom with an ensuite with bath, hand basin and wc.
The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, kitchenware and dishwasher. The heating is through our bio mass boiler & is included in the cost of your stay. It is so cosy all year round. Hare offers a comfortable and welcoming accommodation and has been graded as 3 star Self Catering by VisitScotland in 2024/25. Free Wi-Fi is available for all guests. . Bedrooms are fully made up with linen, and towels are available on request. A shared laundry room is equipped with washing machine, tumble dryer, chest freezer and secure storage space, and a large games room is open to all guests for a game of table tennis, darts or snooker.
Enjoy a 'farm life experience' and visit the local animals, wander amongst the rolling hills and enjoy salmon and trout fishing on the loch or river. Many guests don't even leave Kirkwood as there is so much to do on the estate; whether you are interested in country sports or quad biking, wildlife watching or egg collecting. Situated 5 miles from Lockerbie and the thriving market town of Annan, there is plenty of local history, shops, pubs and restaurants to discover. Dumfries is also only 10 miles away where there is a wealth of attractions to explore, including a number of properties connected to Robert Burns, where you can learn more of the bard's extensive links with the region. Ideal for wedding parties as we are so close to Gretna and Springkell & Kinmount House and can sleep up to 34 people in all the cottages.
