Cottage is situated in remote crofting area surrounded by plenty wildlife including the very rare corncrake.
The island of South Uist is Approx 22 miles long x 7 wide Along the west coast of the island are beautiful white sandy beaches running continually up the westcoast bordering the beach is the machair land with its fantastic display of flowers in the Spring and Summers month,
the crofters plouge this arable land to grow potatoes and vegetable for their owe use and corn for their animals the east side of the island is for the more energetic with its many hills and sea lochs inlets,Ben Mor standing proud at just over 2000 ft offers you all round views,A fine chance to see St Kilda 40 miles North west of the uists, In those hills and lochs the wildlife is in abundance deer eagles owls henharriers grouse otthers etc.
Their are causeways linking those chain of islands together making it possible to visit Eriskay Benbecula North Uist Grimsay Berneray and baleshare,A day trip to the islands of Barra and Vatersay Are also possible,Day trips to St Kilda are possible in the summer month.
Their is a lovely Inn 5 min walk from the Smiddy (Polachar Inn) refreshments meals snack etc.
