This imposing 16th century Castle has evolved into an outstanding and welcoming Hotel, Conference & Wedding Venue. Located just 35 minutes (17 miles) south of Edinburgh on the edge of the Scottish Borders.
Barony Castle Hotel offers 72 bedrooms featuring single and double as well as family Rooms, Deluxe Rooms and Junior & Superior Suites. The welcoming bedrooms offer all home comforts, a child friendly environment and dogs are allowed in a limited amount of bedrooms. Every room is unique with differing views of the surrounding castle estate, gardens and glen.

The Murray Lounge is the newest addition to Barony Castle, located next to the Elibank Suite on the Ground Floor offering a cosy log fire on cold nights and comfortable lounge seating all year around, equipped with three 58 inch flat screens to watch up to 3 different sports events at one time, serving local beers and food from the Blue Dug Bar all day.
Our leisure spa includes a 10 metre swimming pool with whirlpool bath, sauna and heated loungers. The gym has a range of modern equipment.
Explore the many bike and forest walking routes around Glentress, visit the grand Traquair House, discover Rosslyn Chapel or Go Ape treetop adventure. Just a few of the local attractions located only a short drive from the castle estate.
Located in the 25 acres surrounding the hotel is the The Great Polish Map of Scotland. A unique feature in the Scottish landscape. It is a large physical relief map of Scotland, sculpted in concrete and measuring some 40m by 50m. Definately worth a visit!
