Glasgow University Historical Tours

Founded in 1451, the University of Glasgow is the fourth-oldest in the English-speaking world. The campus is perched on Gilmorehill overlooking the picturesque tenements of the West End. Come and explore the history of the campus.

This walking tour will take you on a fascinating journey around some of the university’s most significant spots - from the staircase outside Lord Kelvin's home, to the atmospheric cloisters - whilst discovering the University's connections to famous figures such as James Watt, Adam Smith, and Isabella Elder, whose names are inscribed on the university’s Memorial Gates.

Tours leave the from the East Undercroft (near the Gift Shop) Tuesday-Sunday 2pm. Capacity is limited so please book in advance via Eventbrite or by contacting our office. Our phone lines are open 9.30am-5pm, Monday-Friday (excluding bank holidays).
