Cairngorms wildlife camping
A week long camping safari in the Cairngorms looking for the native wildlife such as Red and Roe deer, Red Squirrels, Otters and also bird life such as the Great spotted woodpecker, tree creeper and Golden eagle just to name a few.
The Cairngorms is the largest National Park in the UK and embodies the beauty of the Scottish landscape. It is host to a large variety of wildlife some which are not found any where else. A tour can be minimum of 3 nights to a 7 day trip.
DAY 1: I will pick you up at your arrival destination and drive us into the Cairngorms, to the campsite to settle in. We can have a warm drink and some food before heading out on a short evening walk.
DAY 2: Before breakfast, we will go on an adventure to find some otters at a near by loch before heading back for breakfast and a rest. After breakfast we will explore the Nature reserve looking for Red Squirrels, Roe deer and a variety of bird life such as the Tree Creepers, Ravens and the Peregrine Falcon. We will stop for lunch during the day and have dinner, cooked on the campfire and stove once we return to camp
Day 3: After breakfast, we will walk to the Burn O'Vat, a local geographical feature with a mysterious history before walking through the woods surrounding it looking for wildlife and to learn about the trees. Stopping for lunch during the day, once we get back to camp we can have our dinner and relax and do some astronomy with a telescope and swap stories about the stars.
DAY 4-5: After breakfast we will travel to another reserve and go into the highlands in search of Red Deer. We will stop during the day for lunch and once we get back to camp we can have dinner and relax around the campfire, toasting marshmallows and drinking hot chocolate as the nights draw in.
DAY 6: We will spend the day looking for butterflies and dragonflies using a butterfly net. We will also look for life in the burns (streams). After dinner we will go and sit by the loch in the evening looking for otters.
DAY 7: You will leave the Cairngorms and be dropped of at the train station or bus stop or airport so you can travel home.
