Thursday Tour - Magestic Wester Ross
Start the day with a visit to Breathtaking Rogie Falls, Visit Charming Kinlochewe, see the spectacular scenery and beaches of Gairloch. Poolewe, Aultbea and Finally the picturesque fishing town of Ullapool.
Our First Visit of the day is to the Spectacular Rogie Falls, get up close to these impressive waterfalls on a suspension bridge across the beautiful Black Water river. It's only a short walk from the car park and during August and September there's an excellent chance of seeing wild salmon leaping upstream. Visit after heavy rain or snow, when water gushes and tumbles from the slopes of Ben Wyvis, and the Falls of Rogie are even more sensational.
We visit Kinlochewe is a village in Wester Ross in the Northwest Highlands of Scotland.[1] It is in the parish of Gairloch,. It lies near the head of Loch Maree in its magnificent valley, and serves as a junction between the main Ullapool road north, and that which heads west to the coast at Loch Torridon. Loch Maree was at one time also known as Loch Ewe, hence the village's apparently confused name.
We stop at Gairloch a fantastic place to visit situated on the shore of Loch Gairloch amongst the awe-inspiring scenery of Wester Ross, Gairloch offers a wealth of spectacular scenery and activities for visitors. There are several good sandy beaches in the area, such as the brilliantly-named Big Sand, and at Redpoint, which offers lovely views to Raasay, Skye and the Western Isles, an unforgettable sunset across the Minch.
Situated at the sheltered south side of Loch Ewe, Poolewe is a neat but very attractive little village with a stunning location. The village comprises a main street of largely white rendered buildings and is home to the beautiful, and surprisingly modern, St Maelrubha’s Church.
The on to the small fishing village of Aultbea which boasts a beautiful and tranquil setting on the eastern shoreline of Loch Ewe in Wester Ross.
Finally we visit Ullapool, this picturesque fishing town is nestled on the shores of Lochbroom, ans is situated in one of the least spoilt natural environments in the UK, the town boasts a wealth of things to see and do. The town makes a great base for exploring the surrounding countryside and touring Wester Ross and the Highlands with Inverness being only an hour’s drive south and Stornoway and Lewis in the Outer Hebrides are just a short ferry ride away.
On this tour you will find some of the most spectacular scenery and waterfalls that the Highlands of Scotland has to offer.
