Loch Ness looking towards Inverness

Loch Ness

The Quieter Side of Loch Ness

Join us for a hike through beautiful woods, waterfalls away from the crowds. We will guide you to your very own spot to enjoy the magnificent views in peace and quiet! Ancient monuments, views to die for and stories to enlighten you - It's all here!

Leaving Inverness, we take Wade's road,(don't worry, we'll explain!) which runs along-side Loch Ness. We take this small single track road to the tiny Hamlet of Foyers where you get the chance to really experience the Highlands and all it has to offer! Our hike usually takes about 2 hours and includes a descent of about 200m and we return the same way, so a degree of fitness is required, (although we do take our time!)

Passing Scotland's 4th highest waterfall and the indigenous Caledonian Pine trees as well as some spectacular views, we make our way on to the shores of Loch Ness, where you will feel as if you are the only ones visiting it! Far away from the 1000's of visitors who are on the other side, we get to appreciate it's beauty in an unrushed and tranquil setting, before making our way back up the slope to be rewarded with some fine home baking in the Waterfall Cafe!

From there it's back up to Inverness via a different route which offers a fantastic view of Loch Ness from above as well as a walk along it's pebble beach. This allows you to really appreciate the scale of the Great Glen which Loch Ness is part of.

Our last stop takes us past the Culloden Battlefield and down to an ancient burial site dating back 4000 years! Clava Cairns provided the inspiration for Diana Gabaldon's Craig Na Dun in Outlander and we stay here for about 20 minutes to soak up the atmosphere and try to interpret the strange clues left behind.

In true Secret Highlands style, we return to Inverness via another small road that provides a spectacular view of Inverness, the Beauly Firth and our local Munro - Ben Wyvis.

Our day is about sharing experiences, stories and making friends, with no more that 6 guests, we provide that intimate experience that ensures you feel part of things and not just a tour with photo stops!

We look forward to meeting you!
