Standing Stones, Inveraray Castle, Kilchurn Castle & Scottish Highlands Tour from Glasgow

Visit the historic lands of Clan Campbell and visit their home, Inveraray Castle. Discover ancient 5000 year old Standing Stones and Take a short walk to the abandoned Kilchurn Castle in the Highlands of Scotland

Let us showcase the stunning Gothic style, Inveraray castle, home to the Dukes of Argyll and the seat of Clan Campbell. Delve into the dark history of Clan Campbell, learning what part they played in the Wars of Scottish Independence and their role in the Battle of Culloden. The castle is breath- taking, as is its wonderful 16-acre garden, which you can take time to visit.

A short hike will lead us to the ruined Kilchurn Castle, another Clan Campbell stronghold, vastly different to Inveraray. This ruined castle on the banks of Loch Awe was once a fortress, before being ruined centuries later by lightning.

Kilmartin Glen allows us to delve deeper into our history as we explore the largest finding of cup and ring marked rock art in the country. This is one of the finest examples of prehistoric rock art in Scotland.

In true Claire and Jamie style (Outlander) you will discover each other at some ancient standing stones, ranging in date from the 900s to the 1600s. The stones hint at a history of religious activity at Kilmartin. This collection of historical standing stones, stone circles and burial cairns is believed to be over 5000 years old and is one of the finest displays anywhere in Scotland.

Dunadd Fort, is home to the Royal Power Centre of Celtic Kings that travelled across the Irish Sea and made Scotland their home. Dunadd is a place steeped in our early histories. It’s first mentioned in AD 683.
