Knoydart Explorer
Knoydart is one of the most remote and hardest to reach areas in the Highlands of Scotland. However, by sea kayak, it is a more pleasant way of discovering the majestic hills of Knoydart.
Day 1 Mallaig - Sourlies
Meeting in Mallaig, we have a kit check and get packed into the boat and set off down the coast taking in the breathtaking views of The Knoydart Peninsula. If we’re lucky, we might get some porpoises along with the seals that like to tag along behind your boat! We head for camp at around late afternoon.
Day 2 Soulies - Ascent of Sgurr na Ciche & Garbh Chioch Mhor
After breakfast, we pack our rucksacks for the day and head off into the true Scottish wilderness with the intention to take in the summits of Sgurr na Ciche & Garbh Chioch Mhor, taking in the majestic views of the truly wondrous place.
Day 3 Sourlies - Ascent of Meall Budhie & Luinne Bheinn
The biggest day today taking in the two Munros of Meall Budhie and Luinne Bheinn, we head to the col to Sgurr Sgeithe where we will head for the summits returning down the River Carnach to camp.
Day 4 Sourlies - Ascent of Meall Bhasiter & Beinn Bhuidhe
From our camp, we head up Meall Bhasiter and along the ridge towards the summit of Beinn Bhuidhe, with stunning views across Knoydart, Loch Nevis & onto the deepest Loch in the UK Loch Morar. Returning the same way for some well earned food.
Day 5 Sourlies - Mallaig
Chatting over breakfast about the adventures of the past few days we then get packed up ready to load the boats, off we head towards Tarbet, here we can have some lunch before making the last push towards Mallaig.
