Clan & Ancestory Tours
A tour of your ancestory or the clan associated with your name
The Highlands of Scotland was home to the Clan System.
Clan basically means Children and ran from around 1,000 A.D. .until the 19th Century unravelling after the defeat at Culloden, although there were Clans involved on both sides of the battle.
The Clan system was Feudal where the Chief owned the land and the Clans folk rented the land from him these were called "Tacts" and were managed by Tactsmen basically managers for the chief.
The clansmen were also expected to provide military service for the Chief during times of war.
The clan also all normally bore the same name as the chief
The wearing of the Kilt, Tartan or Plaid, and Gaelic were only found in the Highlands and it was only in the early part of the 19th Century that the Lowland families adopted Tartan and the Kilt.
Many Clans have a large range of Septs, names associated with the major clan so the name Allison, Baxter, Beaton, Chambers, Fletcher and many more are Septs of the MacDonald Clan
The tour will explore your clan area with the clan castle (if possible many are ruins).
Clan Tours run from Inverness include, Campbell, Cameron, Chisholm, MacLean, MacRae, MacKintosh, Fraser, MacKenzie, Grant, Gunn , MacKay.and may more
Clan Price depends on each Clan depending on travel email for your Clan or Ancestory.
