Glencoe

5 Day Winter Highlands & Skye Tour

Get a taste of Scotland's stunning highland landscape, island scenery and ancient heritage over 5 exhilarating days. Enjoy the journey along the 'Road to the Isles' to the Isle of Skye, taking in Loch Ness, Pitlochry and Stirling.

As the gold and red colours of autumn give way to frost-covered glens and snow-capped peaks, Scotland in the winter can be an adventure for those who enjoy wintry landscapes and off-the-beaten-path experiences. You'll feel like you've got the whole place to yourself and it's a time to experience tranquility amongst the picturesque winter scenery and explore amongst the world’s most breathtaking landscapes. Over 5 days you'll see Scotland's first National Park, beautiful Loch Lomond and enchanting Glencoe. You'll enjoy a memorable journey to the Isle of Skye, and visit Loch Ness, Pitlochry and Stirling. This tour includes carefully selected, quality accommodation.

Safe Bubble Tours are way for you to tour privately within your friend or family bubble. Having your own private vehicle and driver/guide will mean that we can tour discreetly and ensure that you feel 100% safe at all times. Dates for this tour are flexible to suit your schedule.

Day 1 is a fabulous introduction to Scotland's west coast landscape, exploring Scotland’s first National Park and the ‘bonnie banks’ of Loch Lomond. Later we visit the loch-side village of Inveraray with a visit to its famous Castle, home of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll, and then tour through beautiful Glencoe steeped in history with dramatic scenery. Overnight Glencoe.

Day 2 takes us west on the spectacular ‘Road to the Isles’ providing wonderful views across the Sound of Arisaig to the Small Isles of Eigg and Rhum. Our journey follows the West Highland Railway, intended to help open up this rural and remote part of the Scottish Atlantic coast. After a lovely lunch in the traditional fishing port of Mallaig we take the ferry “Over the Sea to Skye”. Overnight Skye area.

Day 3 is a tour of the Isle of Skye, passing the Cuillin mountains and on to the main settlement on the Island, Portree, with its colourful harbour front and interesting shops. Heading north we take in Uig, the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock Falls and travel through the rugged Trotternish Peninsula with other options a possibility. This will be a day to remember. Overnight Skye area.

Day 4 begins with a visit to iconic Eilean Donan Castle before travelling through Glen Shiel to the charming village of Fort Augustus on the shores of Loch Ness - keep a look out for Nessie! Later we travel east to spend the afternoon in the Creag Meagaidh National Nature Reserve, where we can have a short walk to enjoy its unique combination of woodland and open moorland. Overnight Pitlochry

Day 5 we enjoy some free time in the Victorian town of Pitlochry before we tour south via Dunkeld village with its ancient riverside Cathedral. After lunch we head for Stirling Castle; favoured residence of Scotland’s Kings and Queens, for a full tour to take in the castles' long and turbulent history before travelling through to Edinburgh for the opportunity to do some last-minute shopping on the Royal Mile.
