Nielanell Contemporary Shetland Knitwear
Visit contemporary Shetland knitwear studio Nielanell and discover collections of unusual, beautifully made garments in our cosy Hoswick emporium of colour and texture.
Nielanell combines artistic inspiration with inventive knit to create distinctive collections of knitwear and interior accessories, all designed and made in Shetland.
Her collections - in luxurious wool combinations, silks and cashmere - strike an artful balance between complex innovation and deceptively simple construction. Unconventional yet infused with the essence of the shetland isles - integrity, character, adaptability and exploration - this is the alternative Shetland knitwear.
Nielanell’s designs are not made for a certain age, type or size but for those who know that feeling good is as important as looking good. Unexpected colours and textures in knitwear designed to flatter. The collections include very limited editions, exclusive colours and bespoke items - you are unlikely to ever meet someone wearing the same nielanell.
Nielanell's studio shop is a suprising find in the middle of the Shetland village of Hoswick. On the main street, next to Laurence Odie Knitwear and round the corner from Hoswick Visitor Centre, it is a place of pilgrimage for those in the know - the small and unassuming frontage only hinting at the tactile sweety shop within, bursting with vibrant colour and scrumptious texture.
Highly textured handspun 'artyarn' is also available, using the finest quality Shetland hand-picked fleece, Scottish Cashmere and other exotic silks, angora and mohair.
Meet the designer, and enjoy an unexpected experience - you might find yourself having a go on a spinning wheel!
Remember to phone if would like a peek outwith 'normal' hours as staff are delighted to help.
