The National Piping Centre serves as a national and international centre of excellence for the Great Highland Bagpipe. Our Museum of Piping hosts three hundred years of piping heritage and consisting of artefacts from the rich collections of National Museums of Scotland. It is the most authoritative display of its kind anywhere in the world. Amongst this stunning collection is the Iain Dall MacKay Chanter, the oldest piece of bagpipe in the world, and a piping relic that belonged to Robert Burns. Experience the richness of Scotland's musical heritage and explore some of its history.
The National Piping Centre is a centre of excellence for piping tuition and exists to enrich lives through piping. With various courses and come and try sessions available why not come down and give the pipes a go. Based in an 1870's Tuscan style church in the heart of Glasgow's arts & culture district we offer a prime city centre wedding venue, restaurant, hotel along side our world leading Museum of Piping. We can also provide piper hire for special events, weddings, corporate functions or events.
General Admission
Self guided tours of the museum are available 7 days a week, experience exhibits such as; Piping Through the Ages, Pipers of the World Wars and A History of European Piping Traditions. Have the opportunity to try the practise chanter or bagpipes for yourself! Although our general admission is for delf guided tours, our team of piping experts will be on hand to answer any questions you may have before, during or after your visit. Tickets can be purchased on arival for £5 per person, all proceeds go towards the upkeep of the museum.
Private Museum Tours
We offer private tours that can cater to groups of all sizes. Your Piper Host will greet you at the front entance for a piped arrival to the building - making for a fantastic photo opportunity. A family or small group can experience an intimate guided tour of the musuem with your piper host before a hands on opportunity to get up close and personal with a full sized set of highland bagpipes! We also cater to larger numbers such as schools or tour groups. Coach parking is available adjacent to the building and food and refreshments can be provided as part of the package.
Meet the Bagpiper!
This summer, come to The National Piping Centre for a very special Scottish experience. Our Bagpiper will take you on a journey through the rich history of the Scotland’s national instrument, perform live for you and let you try the pipes for yourself!
Public tours will take place Thursday, Friday & Saturday throughout the summer. Stay tuned to our website for further details!
