The Waterwheel is situated on the A8 on the old East Yard ship building site. Famous for shipbuilding since the 19th century the industry became the main source of employment and prosperity for Port Glasgow. At one point the town was responsible for about a quarter of the total tonnage of ships launched on the Clyde. One very famous example is the PS Comet, built in the town in 1812 it provided the first commercially successful steamboat service in Europe.
Working on this proud tradition the team at the Waterwheel will work hard to provide you the best place to dine out either with family or friends. Children will love our dedicated kids menu and indoor and outdoor play areas, allowing you to relax with a meal. If you fancy something a bit sweeter our desserts are similar to the ships built on the Clyde… Massive! If you can’t fit one in why not take advantage of our fantastic ‘cake away’ service and enjoy it later.
We also provide a great range of drinks, including an excellent choice of cask ales from Marston's five breweries, a great wine selection, as well as a range of soft drinks and spirits. All of this and great views of the Clyde makes The Waterwheel a terrific place to dine and relax with all the family.
