The Old Forge is a traditional pub situated in the heart of the Rough Bounds on the Knoydart peninsula. With no roads in or out, it's an 18-mile hike over munros or a 7-mile sea crossing to get here - and you deserve a great pint after making the journey. Our wee pub strives to offer the best there is, and support local all the way.
Cask ales and draught beer & cider come as standard, along with a wide range of craft beers, spirits, malt whiskeys and soft drinks for the weans. Our house ale is brewed just up the road at Knoydart Brewery and is a must-try when you visit.
The Old Forge is renowned for almighty music sessions. Often you'll find 10 or 20 musicians squeezed around a couple of tables with tunes and songs filling the air until the wee small hours. We have a regular schedule of fortnightly sessions throughout the summer months, and there are instruments dotted around the pub for guests to use any time.
So whether your celebrating a last munro, on a family holiday or just looking to escape the rat race, we will have the best seat in the house ready for you.
We are proud to be one of a few community-owned pubs in Scotland. Working for the benefit of Knoydart's 110-strong community, and the thousands of visitors we have each year - The Old Forge reinvests profits back in to the business and other community projects for the benefit of all.
How to reach us: Hop on the ferry from Mallaig and join us for the day, or make a holiday of it and stay in one of the many local B&B's or self-catering properties on the peninsula. Knoydart is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, wildlife-spotters, nature lovers and those who just want to get away from it all. So what are you waiting for? We look forward to welcoming you and showcasing all that our wonderful part of the world has to offer.
