The Makars Mash Bar used to be referred to as "Edinburgh's wee hidden gem". A few years later and the place isn't that hidden anymore but still offers good food, good service and a wam ambiance.
Makars Mash Bar is the place to go if you're looking for a casual meal out, be it with friends, family, colleagues or on a date. Walk through our doors and feel our Scottish hospitality.
Perhaps you're here to try our custom-made haggis, homemade scotch eggs or looking for something lighter. Our menu includes GF and vegan options, as well as a fully nut-free kitchen, and a whole range of alcohol-free drinks. Our 9 types of mash mean you can customise your dish.
Our goal is to have something for everyone. Our team is there to offer quick and friendly service and ensure your experience is pleasant and memorable. Our warm and cosy atmosphere has been praised by guests from around the globe, especially on colder days.
Our focus on creating dishes that are vegan, GF, delicious and sustainable has led us to growing our own Lion's Mane mushrooms. You can now taste this (we call it basement-to-table magic) and visit our mushroom emporium (for a truly memorable and educational meal out) !
