Summer House is a stunning ?Saltire 2019 Award Winning? house on the Isle of Lewis by local architects Duncan and Fiona Porteous, the house is reminiscent of the traditional ?Airidhs? house which used to be found for families to spend the summer in while tending sheep and cutting peats. The Summer House has vibrant colours and a creative spirit, which was found in these quirky houses of years gone by! The property blends into the countryside but allows you to have amazing views whilst still being warm and cosy.
On entering the Summer House you are met by a long hallway with a glazed ceiling that leads you into the main living, dining area and kitchen which boasts a wall to wall feature window with the loch and mountains as your picture! The patio doors lead out on to the decking for you to enjoy the views and listen to the bird song. The master bedroom is at the back of the house and has an en-suite bathroom as well as fitted wardrobes. The second bedroom also has a double bed and fitted wardrobes, its shower room is across the hall and that leads you on into the sauna. The sauna is an electric sauna and can be managed with a simple switch. After a day walking or seeing the rest of the Outer Hebrides enjoy sitting outside on the decking with a dram and watch the sun setting.
The neolithic standing stones of Callanish are 7 miles away and the main town of Stornoway and the Caledonian MacBrayne Ferry Terminal is 7 miles away. Spectacular beaches on the West Coast of Lewis are 13 miles and a day trip to the Isle of Harris is a 30-mile drive. This really is a central location to enjoy the best the Outer Hebrides has to offer!
