Swordale House is an impressive country house, brimful of character and opulence. Reached by a minor road just over 2 miles away from the popular Ross-Shire village of Evanton (all facilities) and only 20 miles from Inverness, its location is rural without being too wild or remote.
It stands amid delightful mature grounds, a mixture of wooded areas, shrubberies and lawns, with a patio area beside the house (furniture) and plentiful parking. Inside, there is, to put it simply, a room for all purposes – the public areas comprise an elegant drawing room, a sitting room, a snug, a TV room, a billiard room, a dining room, a conservatory...perhaps you begin to get the picture!
The house is most beautifully and luxuriously furnished and appointed and features some lovely antiques.
Swordale provides the ideal base for exploring the breathtaking Scottish Highlands, being within easy travelling distance of the west coast and the islands. To the north you can range right up to John o’Groats and even take the ferry to Orkney for the day. From Dingwall (10m) you can strike out for the west coast at Gairloch, or head for Applecross or Skye. Nearer to home, visit the pretty Victorian spa town of Strathpeffer and the scenic Black Isle.
In an area well known for its scenic beauty, there are many outdoor leisure pursuits to be enjoyed including hill walking, mountain biking and horse riding, or take a boat trip out in the Cromarty Firth to see the dolphins and seals up close.
