The original building has 3 bedrooms, double, twin and bunk which give a capacity of 6 as well as the sitting room and a bathroom with a separate shower. The living areas and main bedroom face the sea with spectacular views across the Gare Loch to Roseneath Peninsula and the mountains beyond. The twin and bunk bedrooms overlook the garden. Access to the Cottage is easy; the main A814 road passes behind it.
The cottage shares a secluded site of about half an acre with our house, Inverallt. There are many large trees in the garden and surrounding land. Parking is on site. The spacious garden is bounded by the sea wall which has a towered summerhouse and provides access to a shingle beach which is covered at high tide. A patio, alongside the summerhouse and the sea wall has garden furniture and a BBQ. A variety of garden, shore and sea birds abound. Naval and other vessels frequently sail by. Bring your binoculars!
Helensburgh is just over 4 miles away and has two supermarkets and many small specialist shops, as well as restaurants and take-aways. Rhu is about two miles away where there is a corner shop, a post office and a couple of hotels offering meal service.
The cottage is conveniently located for Loch Lomondside and the National Park. The Lomond Shores Gateway is reached with about a twenty minute drive. The Trossachs, Arrochar Alps, Stirling (Castle) and the Falkirk Wheel are within easy driving distance. There is ample opportunity for walking, golf and sailing near by. A cycle track from Helensburgh to Garelochhead passes the gate.
Day excursions are easy by car or train to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Oban and Mallaig, or by ferries to Kilcreggan and Gourock and thence to Dunoon. A bus passes the cottage to connect with the trains and ferry in Helensburgh.
