About the Apartments
Dove
Named after one of the first Headmistresses of St Leonards and founders of women's lacrosse, Dame Frances Dove, Apartment 1 is a beautifully-finished two-bedroom property on the ground floor of Priorsgate, with direct access to the shared garden to the rear.
Lumsden
Taking its name from Dame Louisa Lumsden, a pioneer of women's education, and first Headmistress of St Leonards School from 1877-82, Apartment 2 is situated on the first floor of Priorsgate. It offers two comfortable, stylish bedrooms, along with a bright, spacious open-plan living and dining area - perfect for relaxing after a busy day on the golf course or exploring the town of St Andrews. The bedrooms boast views over the iconic ruins of St Andrews Cathedral.
Lewis
With yet another nod to Priorsgate's history as part of St Leonards School, this two-bedroom apartment is named after Miss Lewis, who served as Housemistress when the property was used as a boarding house from 1889-1897. Today, it features two beautiful contemporary bedrooms, an open-plan living/dining space, and plenty of period features. As with all the apartments, beds can be configured as doubles or twins.
Oliphant
The fourth apartment at Priorsgate - on the second floor of the building - features two smart, comfortable bedrooms, and a spacious living area with kitchen, plus bathroom. Also with a nod to the history of St Leonards, Oliphant overlooks the school grounds to one side, and the ruins of St Andrews Cathedral to the other.
Archdale
Apartment 5 takes its name from Betty Archdale, captain of the England women's cricket team in 1934, a qualified barrister, Women's Royal Naval Service veteran, leading educationalist and former pupil of St Leonards. It is Priorsgate's three-bedroom apartment, ideal for larger groups and families. The master bedroom is spacious, and this plus one of the other two of the bedrooms would accommodate a camp bed or travel cot if required. It is set across two floors, with an interior staircase to two of the bedrooms, one of which features an en suite toilet.
