Lower Polnish is a one of a kind self-catering cottage as it cannot be reached by road, (unless you own a real 4x4 and have nerves of steel), however a week or two at Lower Polnish more than repays the effort of a 300 yard walk down a steep wooded valley and across a babbling burn (handily it has a bridge) to reach this romantic, secluded and picturesque seaside cottage.
Built in 1750 and steeped in history Lower Polnish is just a stone’s throw of the sea, and with miles of private shore that is just waiting to be explored. Lower Polnish was completely renovated in 2018, with a new floor-to-ceiling glass extension so you can enjoy the spectacular scenery. It sleeps two and has much for those who love wildlife, the outdoors or just pottering about on the shore. Fresh air, sea views, seals, red deer, shags, divers and white-tailed sea eagles... It offers a secluded holiday like no other.
It has a wood-burning stove, magnificent views across the bay during the day, and if its a cloudless night, fabulous views of the stars in the evening.
With the picturesque seaside villages of Glenuig, Arisaig and Mallaig all within a half-hour drive you're not too far from civilisation.
The area is steeped in history; from buried treasure, the SAS, Jacobites, filming locations of Local Hero and Harry Potter and much much more to discover.
Excellent walking, climbing, mountain biking and skiing is all on your doorstep if you want adrenaline as well as peace and quiet.
