Originally built as two Weaver’s Cottages and dating back to the 19th Century when weaving was an important industry in the area, Gartmore Cottage has been extensively renovated in the recent past to very high standards which has given it a bright and fresh contemporary feel while still keeping the wood and stone character of the original building.
Located next to a quiet private square, with parking in front, the cottage is close to local amenities, including shops, pub and two restaurants. West Linton is surrounded by open countryside at the southern end of the Pentland Hills and is well served for outdoor pursuits such as walking, mountain biking, fishing and golf, whilst Edinburgh is only 17 miles away and offers all that a world famous capital city can.
The accommodation sleeps 4 people, with a double bedroom on the ground floor and a twin bedroom on the mezzanine floor off the hallway. The kitchen/living room space is open plan. At one end there is a large fireplace with wood burning stove, soft furnishings (including a double sofa-bed) and a large screen HDTV with YouView and Netflix, a DVD, an i-Pod docking station, a PS2 Game Console and free Wi-Fi. At the other end there is a modern fitted kitchen with oven/hob, fridge, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine. In between, there is a dining area with a long worktop table and bar stools either side. A washing machine/tumble dryer and freezer are available in a small utility room with restricted height under the mezzanine floor. The bathroom is on the ground floor and is equipped with a modern drench shower unit, under-floor heating and a heated cupboard for linen.
Cooking is by electricity and heating is by oil-fired boiler and wood burning stove. Bed linen and towels are provided and a cot and high chair if necessary. No smoking is allowed inside the property and dogs by prior arrangement.
