Balsporran cottage sits in a stunning and peaceful part of the Cairngorm National Park and is located within the Drumochter Pass close to the river Truim and surrounded by the Drumochter Mountains.
We are Fiona and Geoff Fisher, and we are lucky enough to call Balsporran our home, we provide a warm and friendly welcome to all of our guests, and ensure that your stay is both comfortable and relaxing and our service is friendly, We also can help you with advice on everything the local area has to offer to make your stay with us a memorable one. In addition we can provide secure and dry facilities.

Each of the 4 guest rooms are furnished to a high standard for visitors who appreciates quality and tranquillity, with premium linens and toiletries to offer you a little bit of luxury. You will also enjoy a complimentary beverage tray and digital TV. We offer a large guest-dedicated lounge with log fire where you can take in the beautiful views.
We offer the highest quality full Scottish breakfast that sets you up for the day in the Scottish highlands which is generous and varied, lighter options are available too.
Breakfast is served in our dining area, and offers our guests the chance to share plans and stories with us and other guests. With reasonable notice a packed lunch can be provided for anyone setting off on a full day adventure.
Dalwhinnie lies at the head of Loch Etricht and is surrounded by magnificent mountains, Ben Alder is nearby and makes for a great walking experience with dramatic mountain scenery.
Pop into Dalwhinnie Distillery which is home to the famous Dalwhinnie Single Malt Scotch and is part of the Diageo Range. Looking over the flat base of Glen Truim from the height of 1,154 ft above sea level, the distillery boasts the highest elevation for a working distillery in all of Scotland and provides a delightful Visitor Centre which offers tours with a wee dram all year round!
Balsporran is located on the Perthshire / Inverness-shire border, four miles south of Dalwhinnie just 200 yards from the Sustran Cycle Route (no 7), perfectly placed for cyclists and walkers. It is approximately 2 hours north of Edinburgh
Sitting adjacent to the main railway line with its own footpath level crossing leading straight out the Munros, Balsporran is about a close as you can get to the centre of Scotland, so it's not far to drive to Lochaber and Fort William, up to Aviemore and the Cairngorm summits, down to Pitlochry and the Perthshire hills, or the Monadhliath Mountains.
