Inverness, Cawdor, Culloden, Loch Ness and Whisky Tour
Join Cath, an Invernessian, an experienced and qualified tourist guide for your full-day guided driving tour. Your journey will take in Scottish Castles, Loch Ness, ancient monuments, and a whisky tour.
Before your tour, you can choose from a visit to Cawdor Castle an 18th Century Highland Castle and Gardens or Fort George one of the most outstanding fortifications in Europe. If you have any other requests, please contact me directly. (Opening times of venues are dependent on the time of year)
You will visit a 4,0000-year-old chambered burial ground featured in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series of books and TV shows. If you are looking for Jamie Fraser this is the tour for you. We will also pass through the ancient Clan Fraser lands on our journey.
A moving trip to the last pitched battleground on mainland Britain, Culloden Battlefield. Cath will offer you a walking tour of the site sharing with you her family links to the Battle of Culloden in 1746. You will find out why there was such a devastating loss of life during the battle, causing an end to the Jacobite era. There is also a visitor center, cafe, and shop for you to explore.
A drive along Loch Ness to see if we can spot the loch’s most famous resident Nessie. A photo opportunity of the loch and picturesque Urquhart Castle. Visit the pretty Highland village of Drumnadrochit then follow the rugged landscape of Glen Urquhart to the village of Beauly.
Stop a while in Beauly and visit the 13th Century priory, the burial chamber of some of the Fraser, Mackenzie, and MacRae clans.
No trip to the Highlands would be complete without a visit to a distillery. A tour and whisky tasting at Ord distillery, Muir of Ord.
