Clyde Waterfront Walk: City Centre to Govan Cross (Group Tour)
Join us for a unique walking tour of Glasgow Waterfront from the City Centre to Water Row in Govan; a location steeped in ancient history.
The tour is for groups of up to 16 people. Up to 4 additional persons under 16 (must be accompanied by a responsible adult) at no extra charge.
Explore the location of lost docks and shipyards, see the magnificent solid-granite dry docks in Govan that are awaiting a new future.
A fifth of all ships in the world were built on the Clyde at its peak and while most of the industry has now gone there is still much to discover about the past, present and future of the river.
The tours are operated by Clyde Docks Preservation Initiative (CDPI) – a social enterprise promoting the evolving maritime heritage of the River and Firth of Clyde. CDPI has spent almost a decade researching the maritime heritage of the river, networking with interest groups and advocating for protection of the maritime environment and infrastructure.
Rather than purely walking lectures, our walks are a guided exploration of the urban waterfront and the changes it has gone through. Participants are encouraged to take photographs, do their own research, geotagging projects, etc.
Join us at the waterfront (North end of the suspension footbridge), find out more about the river that made Glasgow and get some of your 10,000 daily steps at the same time!
The tour is approx. 3 hours.
