Inveraray Castle

Loch Lomond - Inveraray - Kilchurn Castle

Visit the stunning bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, beautiful Inveraray Castle, and the breath-taking Scottish mountain scenery as you visit Kilchurn Castle, Falls of Falloch and the haunted Drovers Inn.

On your Private Tour - Visit the stunning bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, beautiful Inveraray Castle, and the breath-taking Scottish mountain scenery as we visit Kilchurn Castle.

You will leave Glasgow or Edinburgh behind then travel north towards the “Bonnie Banks” of Loch Lomond and stop at the beautiful conservation village of Luss, where you get stunning views of the loch and Ben Lomond, our most-southerly “Munro” (Scottish term for mountains over 3000ft).

You then make your way along the old military road, through the Arrochar Alps. At the top of Glen Croe we will stop at the "Rest and be Thankful" for photos looking down the glen. It was named by redcoats after the 1745 jacobite rebellion as they were building the old military road and were grateful to reach the top of the glen.

From here you will be on your way to Inveraray on the shores of Loch Fyne and the ancestral home of the Dukes of Argyll since the 15th century. The castle is still the home of the current the Chief of the Clan Campbell, and is set in beautiful large gardens overlooking Loch Fyne. From here you cross from the castle into the town, which was once a Royal Burgh, where you can have lunch in one of the local hostelries or visit Inveraray Jail and learn what prison-life was like for men, women and children 200 years ago. A great attraction for all ages.

After lunch, you journey over the hills to Loch Awe and visit Kilchurn Castle, another Cambell Clan stronghold.

Now we travel through the highlands, passing Tyndrum and Crainlarich before a brief stop at the Falls of Falloch.

A short distance later, we stop for light refreshments at the famous 18th century Drovers Inn with its very own ghosts!

It is now time to join the northern end of Loch Lomond as we enjoy the beautiful scenery and stop for photos.

You will be returned to your hotel in Glasgow or Edinburgh by mid evening.

Duration: 8 – 10 hours
