Day 2 Nairn- Inverness (B/L/D)

You will enjoy your first round of golf at Nairn Golf Club. Nestling on the Moray Firth’s shores, this traditional Scottish Golf Links Course was created from a Highland wilderness of gorse and heather.

Founded in 1887, it is now one of Scotland’s best courses and has hosted many important championships. The Nairn Golf Club has now been awarded No 9 in the definitive list of the Top 100 Courses in Scotland 2011.

“Nairn Golf Club is a classic, traditional out-and-back links, and the opening half a dozen holes along with the coast rival anything at more illustrious Scottish courses”, said Jock Howard, commissioning editor at Golf World.

“The putting surfaces are in immaculate condition, and the variety of the examination never gets boring. I can’t think of anywhere I would rather be on a sleepy summer afternoon.”

Ranked number 9, The Nairn Golf Club received high marks from the report’s illustrious panel of judges, including three-times Ryder Cup captain Bernard Gallacher, Major winner Sandy Lyle, Ryder Cup player Andrew Coltart and broadcasters Ewen Murray and Andrew Cotter. Also marking Scotland’s best were amateur legend and the driving force behind PowerPlayGolf Peter McEvoy, Women’s British Open champion Catriona Matthew and golf course designer David McLay Kidd.

Day 3 Inverness- Elgin- Inverness (B/L/D)

Starting your third day with a delicious Scottish breakfast and you will travel to Elgin for another day of golf. The old course is one of the finest links courses in Scotland. Classic links designed by Old Tom Morris with deep rewetted bunkers, undulating gorse-lined fairways, and smooth, fast greens. It is a superb test of golf with seven par fours over 400 yards.

Henry Cotton’s preference for precision golf can be seen with the shorter but somewhat tighter new course with greens smaller than the Old, but every bit as good and equally challenging and rewarding.

Moray Golf Club is truly one of Scotland’s gems, a fitting tribute to Old Tom Morris and Henry Cotton’s artistry, and a must for golfers visiting the area.

With the sea on one side and the backdrop of the mountains behind, every day brings a different aspect to this challenging and beautiful course.

Designed in 1890 by Old Tom Morris, the layout of the holes guarantees an interesting round for beginners or experts. The sheltered location of the course ensures favourable weather for most of the year.

Dinner at the Mustard Seed

The Mustard Seed, which sits on the banks of the River Ness, is one of Inverness’s favourite restaurants. It serves simple cooking and has a warm and friendly atmosphere.

The building is a converted church building that is simply stunning and helps create a wonderful ambience. The transformation from a disused church to a restaurant created a unique space; with a double-height ceiling and magnificent open log fire.

Many of the original period features were retained and combined with a mix of natural and modern finishes. The addition of the terrace on the top floor allows alfresco dining and uninterrupted views of the River.

Day 6 Inverness- Dornoch- Inverness (B/L/D)

You will absolutely love the Golf course in Dornoch. Dornoch is spellbinding and many golfers from all over the world make the pilgrimage to these natural links at some point in their lives. It is often quoted as one of the must-play courses. It’s the timeless setting that makes Royal Dornoch such a pleasing place to play golf.

It’s wild, isolated and at the same time, beautiful. There’s the blaze of colour in early summer when the gorse is in flower. The pure white sandy beach divides the links from the Dornoch Firth, and it all feels very humbling.

Formed in 1877, Royal Dornoch means exceptional standards and we always aim to exceed the expectations of our frequent visitors and loyal members.

However, we aim to do this in a relaxed, informal environment, with an emphasis on traditional highland hospitality.

Visit to Glenmorangie Distillery

By the tranquil shores of the Dornoch Firth, amidst the golden barley fields of Ross-shire, lies the Glenmorangie Distillery. Here you will find a warm Highland welcome from the legendary Men of Tain, the skilled craftsmen who ensure that Glenmorangie is made in the same unhurried and uncompromising way it has always been through its long and distinguished history.

Enjoy this unparalleled access to the Distillery and its warehouses. With the help of expert guides, you will experience all stages of the whisky-making process from mashing and fermenting to distilling and maturation.

Within their Still House (they call it their Highland Cathedral) stand the tallest stills in Scotland. Their long copper necks are the same height as a fully grown giraffe! As a result, only the lightest and purest vapours make it to the top, giving a smoother, more elegant whisky.

On your visit to their traditional earth-floored warehouses, they will explain why Glenmorangie has for many years led the industry in the pioneering use of only the finest casks in which to mature their whisky.
