125th Anniversary Full Day Sail
Be part of our 125th anniversary celebrations with a hands-on sail aboard our traditional wooden fishing boat. Leaving and returning to Lerwick, our skipper will pick the route on the day. Tour departs Monday 5th May only.
It has been an incredible 125 years since Swan was first launched at Hay’s Dock in Lerwick. In that time she has had an interesting and varied history and range of uses. Join us to celebrate our anniversary weekend and hear all about it as we set sail around Shetland’s east coast.
Boarding the Swan at 9.30am, your trip will begin with a comprehensive safety briefing including how to work the lines on deck and set the sails. We will then put this into practice, enjoying getting hands-on with the sailing as you explore the east side of Shetland’s coast.
A voyage on Swan is very much a hands-on experience - you are part of her crew, and work as a team to make your voyage happen. All tasks are shared and everyone joins in, from the most to the least experienced.
With no fixed itinerary, our skipper will assess conditions on the day to make best use of the weather, wind, and our incredible wildlife and scenery.
Included in voyage
• Lunch, Tea, coffee and biscuits
• Sailing instruction
• Life jacket and safety line.
There are basic waterproofs onboard, however you may feel more comfortable in your own wet weather gear. Please ensure you wear sensible footwear, with good grips, and warm clothing, and don't forget your camera.

The Swan Trust
When you come aboard the Swan you are embarking on a 'hands on' adventure. Play an active role in sailing and working the ship, build friendships with your crew mates, develop new skills and take in stunning scenery. Sailing trips range from a half day to 14 days and no previous sailing experience is required. Private charter also available by request.
