The Scottish Crannog Centre

Clyde Sea Lochs Trail

Step back in time 2,500 years at the Scottish Crannog Centre and discover what life was like in Scotland during the Iron Age. Begin your tour in the museum to learn more and see period artefacts before following your costumed guide into the reconstructed crannog, a prehistoric loch-dwelling standing on stilts over the waters of Loch Tay.

Afterwards, you’ll be given a demonstration of the basic Iron Age skills, from spinning yarn to starting a fire without matches. Look out for special events at the centre too!

Please note: The crannog itself is now under renovation after it was sadly destroyed by a fire. You can still visit the museum and Iron Age village, or book a tour to discover more.
