Breath-taking views, a truly magnificent castle, white sand beach and whisky day tour!
Heading north we travel the old drove road over the moorland to the Million Dollar View offering panoramas over the Dornoch Firth and beyond. Continuing north we pass Skibo Castle (venue for the rich and famous) and on through Loch Fleet, skirting the edge of the Nature Reserve to arrive at the stately Dunrobin Castle.
The castle, dating back to 1235, is the seat of the Earl of Sutherland and is comprised of 189 rooms which have to be viewed to appreciate the beauty. It is set on a cliff top perch taking in views over the Dornoch Firth and its own beautiful gardens. The falconry display within the grounds is well-worth viewing.
Once we depart from here, it's a short journey to Dornoch with its independent shops, quality eateries and award-winning beach. Glenmorangie or Balblair Distillery beckons - their reputation is known the world over and here, you can experience a dram for yourself.
