Wet Wild Whisky Canyoning
The Wet, Wild & Whisky activity package is a day of canyoning (normally at the Oova or the Bruar) followed by a trip to the Dalwhinnie Distillery for a whiskey and chocolate tour & tasting session.
Canyoning in Scotland is an extremely adventurous and enjoyable day out for all. Canyoning involves jumping into deep pools, sliding down flumes and abseiling through waterfalls. Canyons around Aviemore & the Cairngorms are considered amongst the best in Scotland.
Scotland has the perfect landscape for adventurous days out canyoning and Active has venues across the country although our main ones are around Aviemore & the Cairngorms. Ultimately, this is an activity that has become one of the UKs most popular extreme sports. Given this if you are not sure then come and try for yourself – we guarantee you will be hooked!
This Tour involves being picked up in the morning, going to one of the local Canyons and descending it. Then driving over to the Dalwhinnie Distillery for their top of the range chocolate and Whisky tasting Tour.
What is Canyoning in Scotland like?Firstly, you will most certainly get wet and of course there are many different venues that have variations. As a matter of fact, our venues have jumps ranging from just a few feet for the wee kids all the way to jumps 40ft and above for the incredibly brave! In Short, one of the most amazing adventures of your life is to canyon! Guided by our expert instructors you are taken to the limit with this exhilarating sport.
In addition to our Canyoning venues we utilise in the Aviemore & Cairngorms area, there are a number of fun jumps, slides and areas to scramble up. Close to Glasgow, Stirling & Loch Lomond.
The venues we use for our canyoning sessions have been carved & eroded from the Scottish rock over millions of years and are just a short drive from Aviemore. Ultimately the erosion has formed natural slides & chutes, jumps up to 40ft, abseils and natural rock arches to negotiate – This is a challenging experience providing a truly adventurous day out in Scotland.
Canyoning at the Allt Na H UamhaThe Allt Na h Uamha – Gaelic (Burn of the big cave) is located near Loch Laggan. In fact, this is one of Scotland’s classic Canyoning descents for adrenaline seekers! Given this, it is one of our most popular days out from Aviemore and the surrounding area. In brief, it is a fantastic experience with water chutes, high speed slides and flumes with the final challenge to abseil down a 60ft waterfall.
This activity is best suited to adults groups and confident youths aged 12+ (although if individuals who are younger are confident swimmers we may be be able to make exceptions). We will transport you to the canyon from Aviemore or Newtonmore. If travelling from the south we can meet you at Craigower Lodge Outdoor Centre in Newtonmore or collect you from Newtonmore railway station.
Canyoning at the BruarThe Falls of Bruar are on of Scotland most popular canyoning venues – located a few miles North of Blair Atholl. It is an impressive natural feature so why not come and Canyon Bruar Falls with us! Similarly this steep canyon has been carved from the rock over millions of years. Due to this, its main features include naturally formed slide chutes, 40 ft jumps, abseils and a natural rock arch to negotiate. Ultimately, this is a challenging canyoning experience for the adventurous.
This activity is best suited to adults groups and confident youths aged 12+. We will transport you to the canyon from Aviemore or Newtonmore. Alternatively we can meet you at The House of Bruar- if travelling from the south or we can collect you at Blair Atholl or Pitlochry railway station’s.
