Enjoy a tour of Edinburgh from the comfort of your own home. This is an interactive online experience that can be viewed on any device from anywhere in the world. A live streaming event that will be in real time, happening at the same time you are watching with no script. You will be able to talk to the guide directly, ask questions and even ask to see something in particular on the camera. It will be as if you are really here!
This tour will focus on the centre of the Old Town of Edinburgh in the heart of the Royal Mile. We begin at the Mercat Cross which was the hub of the open air market in the Medieval days and also used for public punishments. From here we continue passed the Law Courts and admire its fasade with it's neo-classical architecture. Reaching the front of St Giles Cathedral we see some unique traditions and reminders of the past such as the Heart of Midlothian. We then admire the building from a distance with its crown steple.
Your virtual guide will then take you to the lawnmarket where you learn about one of the city's outlaw heroes, Deacon Brodie. We take a stroll up the castlehill to some of the main attractions of the city such as the Whisky Experience, Camera Obscura and Edinburgh Castle. If we are lucky we may hear some bag pipes!
Next we go through one of the eerie closes. These tiny streets and back courtyards are covered on either side of the Royal Mile from top to bottom. Here we learn how this make the layout of the old town of Edinburgh and why it's nickname is Auld Reekie. Finally, we will end our tour with spectacular views of the New Town and the famous Princes Street.
This unique experience of Edinburgh's old town is full of dark history, gory stories and ghost tales, as well as informative and entertaining. We will tell you all you need to know about the historical capital of Scotland. Hear stories of famous historic charters such as Mary Queen of Scots, Deacon Brodie, Robert the Bruce, and our well-known writers Robert Louis Stevenson, Walter Scott, and Robert Burns.
