Personalised Tour Rousay - An Orkney Island
Summer 2023 Bookings being taken for the summer season 2023. Please do not hesitate to contact me for details and to make bookings. Many thanks and stay safe, Patrick
During our Rousay Tour we visit four of the maintained archaeological sites that are spread across the island. In total Rousay has over 140 recognised sites or archaeological significance, of these five are maintained to an excellent standard by Historic Environment Scotland.
The island has been inhabited for more than 5000 years and these sites are proof of that. We will travel to Midhowe Broch and Chambered Cairn which are two of the finest archaeological sites across the Orkney islands. You should wear comfortable footwear as these places are only accessible by foot.
We will make visits to Blackhammer Cairn and the two-storied Taversoe Tuick.
The island has a diverse group of animals that you might see during the travel. We will visit Saviskaill Bay where you can see seals and if we're lucky, otters as well. You should carry a camera or you might miss your chance of capturing some breath-taking moments. We will also visit Sourin bay, from where you can see most of the other islands.
If there is time, we can visit Trumland House Gardens and enjoy its beautiful orchards. All-in-all, depending upon the weather, you will have an adventurous day that you will remember for years to come.
We stop for a picnic lunch. You can bring your own or I can provide lunch hampers by request.
