Nature Lovers Touring English Course

Improve your English whilst taking in some of Scotland’s great natural beauty. Scotland is a small country and nature is never very far away. Even though Edinburgh is a town, coastal landscapes and geographical features aren't far away.

You will be accompanied by two native English speakers, a qualified English teacher and an experienced guide.

You will be based in Edinburgh and spend three days in the city and close surroundings and three one-day trips outside Edinburgh. Activities and visits may include:

  • The majestic hills, lochs and glens of Perthshire. Depending on the weather and wishes of the group, there will be the option to follow some fantastic forest trails, a lochside walk, visit a castle or a very scenic distillery.
  • A guided walk around Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags with a park ranger or a geologist. Find out where the 'Father of Modern Geology', James Hutton, found significant examples of rock formations which led to his theory of the Earth's creation. Get one of the best panoramic views of Edinburgh and beyond from the top of this well loved landmark.
  • A day in beautiful East Lothian, a walk along the coast before being picked up and taken to other sites of interest in the area. Exact visit locations are seasonal and weather dependent but can include dramatically set castles, traditional mills, beaches, villages and hill forts.
  • A photographic walking tour with a professional photographer through some of Edinburgh's scenic landscapes. Learn how to take some great shots with your camera or phone and take home some lovely images of your trip. A private guided tour with Iconic Photos.
  • A less well-known but equally lovely area in Scotland. A professional forager will teach you about wild foods and herbs and take you to pick your own. You will enjoy a gourmet feast, prepared in the wild, using your freshly picked produce. You could not have a more locally sourced or fresher meal if you tried!
  • A guided walk in the Pentland Hills with a knowledgeable guide and a well-deserved stop for tea and cake afterwards. Edinburgh is a city but has a vast array of nature on her doorstep, the Pentland Hills are popular playground for locals!
  • The exact locations on each tour are seasonal and weather dependent. We will take you to the most interesting and beautiful locations available during your week in Scotland.
  • English language tuition sessions will take place at our partner school ECS Scotland in Edinburgh and on location in the places we visit. You will be constantly listening to and speaking English. Correction, pronunciation and vocabulary enhancement will be taking place continuously throughout the week, don't forget your notebook!
  • Free time for you to explore Edinburgh on your own, have a lie in, relax or do some shopping or optional activities.
  • To get the most out of this touring course the recommended level of English is B1 or higher.

Touring courses start on Sunday afternoons and finish on Friday afternoons.
