O ye’ll tak’ the high road, and I’ll tak’ the low road, and I’ll be in Scotland a’fore ye.
But me and my true love will never meet again,on the bonnie, bonnie banks O’ Loch Lomond.
Pass the Firkin Point on the banks of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, a mere 20 miles north of Glasgow and reached by passing through Milton, birthplace of three time Formula 1 World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart. Walk the streets of the picture postcard village of Luss where the TV series Take the High Road was filmed.
Considered the gateway to the Highlands Crianlarich sits at the foot of Ben More which stands at 3,850 feet. Snow can lie on its peak even in July!
Rannoch Moor, used extensively in the TV series Outlander is a huge bog stretching for miles surrounded by 3,000 foot high mountains.
Featured in the 2012 James Bond film “Skyfall” is the stunning scenery of Glen Etive once owned by the family of James Bond creator Ian Fleming. This IS one of Scotland’s most beautiful glens. Termed as ‘wild land’, if you are very lucky, the deer that roam freely in the glen may allow you to get close enough to feed them.
Glencoe offers some of Scotland’s most rugged mountain views and was scene of the infamous massacre in 1692.
At the end of the glen are North and South Ballachulish in the area known as Lochabar where Loch Leven meets Loch Linnhe. The area was once where all Scotland’s roof slates were quarried.
