Food & Drink Touring English Course

Improve your English whilst sampling some of Scotland’s delicious food and drink. During this week long touring course, you will be introduced to traditional Scottish ingredients culinary history and visits to related places of interest.

You will be accompanied by two native English speakers, a qualified English teacher and an experienced guide. 

You will be based in Edinburgh and spend three days in the city and close surroundings and three one-day trips outside Edinburgh. Activities and visits may include:

  • Food related photography walking tour in Edinburgh with a professional photographer as your guide. Discover how to take lovely photos as well as what food and drink the capital of Scotland has to offer. From speciality cafes to Michelin star restaurants, you won’t be short of places to have dinner in the evenings. A private guided tour with Iconic Photos.
  • Two one-day trips to The Kingdom of Fife and Perthshire, to the north of Edinburgh. You will be guided by our tour partners at Tasting Scotland. We will learn about traditional ingredients and ways of cooking as well as sampling some of Scotland's glorious seafood and tasty meats.
  • No visit to Scotland would be complete without a tour of a whisky distillery, and a tasting of course. Did you know that craft beer brewing is on the increase in Scotland? We will also visit a craft brewery with a gin distillery.
  • A Food Safari in Edinburgh with the ‘Woman who ate Scotland’. As well as sampling local specialities at interesting eateries, Nell Nelson will talk to us about her food related travels around Scotland for her culinary TV show.
  • Foraging for your own ingredients in a beautiful location outside Edinburgh. Learn some new recipes with your foraged ingredients then cook and enjoy your own lunch outside. 
  • A traditional afternoon tea in an exquisite location. Saviour the experience of being served in a unique and historic setting in Edinburgh's Old Town. 
  • English language tuition sessions will take place at our partner school ECS Scotland in Edinburgh and on location in the places we visit. You will be constantly listening to and speaking English.  Correction, pronunciation and vocabulary enhancement will be taking place continuously throughout the week, don't forget your notebook! 
  • Free time for you to explore Edinburgh on your own, have a lie in, do some shopping or optional activities.
  • Please note that exact locations may vary due to seasonal opening times or local produce available.
  • To get the most out of this touring course the recommended level of English is B1 or higher.

Training courses start on Sunday afternoon and finish on Friday afternoons.

The price includes English language tuition with a qualified teacher, learning materials, guided tours with professional guides, entrance fees and tastings with the group.
