E-xperience Tour
Pedal through picturesque landscapes, explore the depths of Orkney’s storied past, and immerse yourself in its distinctive culture with E-tour Orkney’s exclusive E-xperience Tour.
- Transport to and from the tour destination of Birsay by bus, starting in the main town of Kirkwall.
- The use of high-quality Ampere Electric assisted pedal bikes.
- Get to pick your own locally sourced packed lunches - Included in the price of the tour.
- 6 hour guided tour conducted by local – Daniel Hourston.
The bus pick-up location is in Kirkwall town centre; however, this may be flexible depending on the customer’s needs. You will receive an on-board commentary comprised of local stories and tales as we pass through the small villages of Finstown and Dounby making our way out to the tour destination of Birsay.
From there you will hop on the E-bikes and unearth Orkney’s iconic history by:
- Exploring Earls Palace, a 16th century ruin located in Birsay
- Learn more about Orkney’s involvement in WW1 at Lord Kitchener’s Memorial.
- Further your knowledge of Orkney’s role in WWII by touring around HMS TERN – a second world war air base – found in the settlement of Twatt
Transport back to Kirkwall by bus will then conclude the tour.

E-tour Orkney offers unique guided electric bicycle tours, empowering customers to unplug, explore and experience. The use of electric bikes gives clients of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels the chance to be united as part of a tour where they can explore at a pace that’s comfortable to them. With two different bike sizes available along with the step-through frame design, E-tour Orkney aims to be as inclusive as possible. Through the booking process, clients are also invited to pick their own locally sourced packed lunches - which is included in the set price of the tour.
