Ben Chonzie - Munro Walk

Climb a Munro, a Scottish mountain over 3000ft (914m). Ben Chonzie is a great introduction to 'Munro Bagging'. It is situated in the Southern Highlands and is accessed via Glen Lednock, Comrie (nr Crieff) in Perthshire.

The summit is accessed by good paths and tracks and there is no difficult terrain underfoot. However, climbing a mountain, is not going to be easy.

There is a good wide path almost the whole way to the top, this path is at an easy gradient initially, but closer to the top it gets quite steep, and will be tough if you are not used to hills. We leave the track about 2km from the top, and follow a path upwards to the remains of a fence line. It is then easy walking along the plateau to the summit. Once at the summit there are stunning 360 views, especially of the highlands spanning out towards the North & West.

Whilst walking this mountain I have seen herds of deer, red kites, peregrine falcons, grouse, sky larks and mountain hare. If you are lucky you might also spot some incredible Scottish wildlife.

  • Moderate fitness is required.
  • The walk is 12km, with 700m of ascent.
  • I expect the walk to take between 4 and 5hrs.
  • Maximum group size is 8.
  • £160 for the Tour (individual or group).

Once you have booked your tour with me, I will give you further details (where to meet etc) and a recommended kit list for the day.
