Description
Route
The trail is a 12 mile adventure that takes in the River Ayr Walkway, Auchincruive Estate, the village of St Quivox, Prestwick and Newtown shorelines and some interesting spaces in between! It is really intended to be done by bike but you could choose to walk. If so, then you probably need to double the amount of time recommended to complete the trail! The trail has two starting locations. The official one is on the riverside walk beside Ayshire College, Ayr Campus, Dam Park, Ayr KA8 0EU. Alternatively, you can choose to start at the Grangemuir Road end of the Esplanade, Prestwick KA9 1SN. Have a fun-filled time as you follow the clues, solve the riddles and complete the challenges!
Who Can Do the Trail?
It is suitable for a family (age 10+ children), couples, individuals or groups!
When Can You Do the Trail?
The trail can be done anytime during daylight hours. The trail can be completed in about 4 hours (if cycling) and is approximately 12 miles long. The more stops you make, the longer it will take! Either whizz around as fast as you can or adopt a more leisurely approach! Unfortunately, there are no public toilets available on the trail, but the map at the back of the booklet shows the nearest that can be accessed via a short detour! There is an outdoor café at Auchincruive open at weekends only (summer) selling cakes and hot and cold drinks so best to pack a picnic!
