Moat Brae is the true home of Neverland, the House and Garden where the young Jamie Barrie was inspired by adventures with his friends in the verdent garden. Here he looked for fairies in the garden and planned pirates attacks on passing boats on the Nith and let his imagination develope the advantures of Peter Pan. IN later life JM Barrie said about the property "For our escapades in a certain Dumfries Garden, which is enchanted land to me, were certainly the genesis of that nefarious work.” in reference to Moat Brae.

Today Moat Brae is a world class visitor attraction where you can Explore J. M. Barrie's world and the history of the house, chase Peter Pan's shadow or snuggle up with a book in our sunlit library or reading nooks and feel some of the magic just as the young Jamie Barrie once did.
